Detail #2

Katherine had the opportunity to be a flower girl several times when she was preschool age and this is the basket that she carried each time. I would just change the ribbon to match the colors of the next wedding. It seemed only natural to pull this basket out for Katherine's wedding. I just added a little white spray paint, a new ribbon and the precious little flower girl was good to go. Little details like this made the wedding such a BLESSING and each sentimental item continues to spark the memories of weddings past. Reflections of these wedding memories still bring me pleasure weeks, months, and years after the event.

TWINS!

Happy Birthday Ella and Mattie!
What a blessing (and surprise) just one month after the wedding!
Pastor Sally on the right (my niece that helped Ben perform Katherine's wedding) had the twins this morning after being in premature labor since Monday. Ella only weighs 3.2 pounds and Mattie only weighs 2.6 pounds because they were born at 29 weeks. They are all doing great considering the low birth weight and your prayers would be appreciated. They have a long road ahead of them in the neonatal unit for the next several months. This has really been a stressful summer and it's not over yet! But the best is yet to come...

Little Details

Many details from Katherine's wedding day were well thought out (she is a detail person) with sentimental value and that was the case with her wedding bouquet. She wanted the "something old" to be something from my wedding day- WAY back in 1975! My wedding dress was not the "style" that she wanted for her wedding dress (I did understand but it sure was a bargain even back then... $75.00!) but we were able to have some of the lace removed from my dress, so the florist could use the lace to wrap around her bridal bouquet. (If you click on the photo, you can see the lace a little better.) It was the little details like this that made her wedding day so memorable and a BLESSING indeed! I hope to share more of the little details in the days ahead so... stop back by!

Happily Ever After

The happiness is just radiating from their faces as they anticipate the "Happily Ever After". So young and in love, with their future ahead of them and what a BLESSING it was to be a part of this perfect day. May God continue to bless them as they face "happily ever after".

Wedding Bell Blues II

Nightmare #2: Three days before the wedding, I was waiting for the red light to turn green and Katherine was checking our "list"! Our next stop was with the photographer, to make the final payment and finalize the group shots we wanted. We had at least 10 minutes to spare and we were only 1 minute away- no problem... until the man approaching from the rear, hit the gas instead of the brake, propelling us forward with "whiplash" and bringing the entire rear end of my car into the backseat! We did eventually make it to the photographer who was very understanding but we both suffered neck and shoulder injuries that muscle relaxers and physical therapy are helping even to this day. We didn't let this unexpected event or the pain dampen our spirits and we both feel blessed... because it could have been much worse. It has been three weeks now and the bruises are gone, physical therapy is helping, and I just got my car back TODAY (it looks brand new)! AND the wedding was perfect!

Wedding Bell Blues

I suppose from my upbeat blog, nothing ever goes wrong life, everything is a blessing in disguise world... you would assume our daughter's wedding went off without a hitch! WRONG- let me share our first nightmare with you today. Nightmare number one: Burlington Bridal Mart (don't go there unless you are desperate) ordered Katherine's dress in mid-January. It arrived in late May and was an inch and a half too short. The manufacturer was to blame said Burlington ... the manufacturer said Burlington was to blame... the manufacturer did send an extra 2 yards of lace to add to the bottom of the dress... Burlington did TRY to add an inch and a half with the lace but... Katherine had to wear rhinestone flip-flops and her toes did show (she didn't like this at all)! She missed her bridal portrait date, got her dress 2 weeks before the wedding, had her bridal portrait made one week before the wedding and the gorgeous portrait arrived at the reception hall just hours before the reception (thanks to a very cooperative photography studio- local I might add). As you can imagine, this provided all of us with anxiety, stress, and sleepless nights for several weeks and of course we didn't need anymore stress added to an already stressful event. Lesson learned (which is a BLESSING indeed!)... don't go to the biggest bridal shop in North Carolina... go to your hometown folks that you trust and know! I think we could have done better ordering on line because she was a perfect size 10! Come back in a few days for nightmare number two!
