Alstromeria

Fresh flowers on a cold, damp, rainy day is a BLESSING indeed! I keep fresh flowers in my home year round... or at least I do when I can find them in the flower section of the grocery store at a reasonable price. In the summer, I just pick a bouquet of flowers from my garden, but in the winter I try to find a bouquet of Alstromeria like the ones pictured in this vase. Did you know Alstromeria will stay fresh for weeks? If you can find them in the bud stage, they may last for up to three weeks. They come in a variety of vibrant colors to match almost any decor... and sometimes I can find them at Walmart for a cheap, cheap price. Sunshine on a cloudy day... flowers in the middle of winter... what a BLESSING indeed!

I know what you mean, there is something very elegant about fresh flowers in the house. I am very blessed to live in north Fl. where we have something blooming year round.I have two calmila bushes full of pink flowers now. Before I retired I use to buy alstromeria a lot at the grocery store and it does last a long time. Great picture!

I would love to see some pictures of your garden if you have any...I bet it's beautiful and each new year you can create something different and beautiful. You remind me of my mom in many ways...one thing my mom has told me often is that gardening brings you closer to God. I can imagine it is the same for you. Thanks for sharing you daily blessing.

I also love fresh flowers. I buy a bunch of carnations at Costco and divide them into small bud vases throughout the house.

Fresh flowers in your house are a blessing any time of the year! If only I could get my kitties to leave my flowers alone in the vase.

Thanks for stopping at my blog today. :)

They are beautiful and yes they will last for you. I have some gardenia that are holding on outside and some azaleas too. It is amazing but the weather has turned off really cold now here in Ga. so I wonder how long they will last. I love flowers in the house too. Beautiful...Sandy

Nancy, I wanted to stop by and thank you for commenting on my Relationship-Building Activities for You and Your Toddler post. I do appreciate your complenting my mothering skills. :) And I'm taking your advice, I'm enjoying each moment with my son because it's already apparent to me that he's growing up far too quickly!

I do not keep flowers in my place, but I keep houseplants. They are great for the air I have heard. I would rather give flowers than to have them in my place. Women seem to really like them.

This reminds me I should get some more for my house. --- plants that is....

Those flowers are gorgegous. I got flowers from my hubby the other day, needless to say, they died in two days! Bummer. This cold weather is not the best for some flowers.

by the way, thanks for visiting my blog.

Good morning, Nancy,

What a nice post. The photo of those flowers makes me want to see if I can squeeze a bouquet into my grocery shopping budget today.

I love fresh flowers year round, too. And I like unusual flowers, not your standard roses and daisies.

Thank you for stopping by my place yesterday. Janice and Susan's party sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun, a good chance for us all to get out and meet new people.

They are beautiful Nancy. I've had them in bouquets many times and haven't known their name. I love them. You're right - they outlast almost all the other flowers.
There is something very special about fresh flowers. They are a miracle of creation. I love them.

Wow, they were on sale today at the store - I should have bought some! I didn't know they'd stay fresh for so long. I still have a poinsettia right now that isn't looking so good any more.
