The Wedding Dress

I have loved every minute (so far) of helping plan my daughters wedding and what a BLESSING it has been! I know there will be hectic times full of stress but for now... I have thoroughly enjoyed this extra time spent with my daughter, helping her organize one of the biggest events in her life. Yesterday was our third day (since 12/26/06) of trying on wedding dresses and even though we have traveled two states, and three cities... we were not discouraged but hopeful that when we found the right gown, we would know! And we did. It is absolutely gorgeous with ivory lace and scattered crystal beads that glitter when the light hits them just right. Her beauty and elegance are highlighted in this wedding gown and she will be simply radiant on the day (July 21st) she walks down the aisle on the arm of her Dad. The happiness, joy and excitement continues to grow with each item that we check off of our list and that is a BLESSING indeed.

Nancy,
I well remember the fun of shopping with my daughter for her wedding gown. Did you get a tear or two in your eye when she tried them on for you?? (I did!)
You're making such wonderful memories by doing this together.
:)

I know exactly how you feel, Nancy. Four years ago when I went with Krissy and her wedding party to try on gowns, every time Kris stepped out of the dressing room I cried. It was just so moving to see her more beautiful than she'd ever been. There's just something magical about it - every bride is beautiful but when it's your daughter, there's no describing it. I'm so blessed to be doing this a second time with Mandy. I can hardly wait for our first visit to David's Bridal in three weeks. Isn't this fun?!!

Hi Nancy, What fun - another wedding to look forward to. Barb's daughter is getting married this summer too. My 28 year old daughter has announced that she won't even thing about marriage until she's thirty. So I think I'll just sit back and enjoy your daughters' weddings for the time being. Take lots of pictures when the time comes!!!

Our two daughters are married!! But I remember going with my youngest daughter and looking for dresses and yes crying was always at the corner of my eyes...I did not get to go with my oldest daughter because she borrowed a beautiful dress from a friend (just like I did). It is such fun and I can understand exactly what you have been doing!! Remember this and have a great time. thanks for stopping by today. One day your daughter will be celebrating her anniversary just like my hubby and myself. Sandy

I can't wait to see pictures. I got to be mother of the bride twice in 6 months, and one was my son's bride, from Kenya. Her mom missed all the fun. I felt bad for her. She looked so gorgeous in all of the dresses she tried on, with her beautiful dark skin.

We bought Kristen's from her SIL, and she looked lovely as well - but we didn't try on a bunch with her. Fun times!

Nancy, it is wonderful to hear that your daughter found the perfect wedding gown! My word, how's the song go..."Ain't no mountain high enough, ain't no river wide enough to keep me from getting to you". (or in your case, the right gown!) *smile* Love hearing how happy you are and so wonderful that you are embracing every wonderful Mother~Daughter moment!

I remember so well the shopping for THE dress for each of my daughters. We had such a great day out, just the two of us, and then lunch and then back to the stores for more try-ons. It was so wonderful and the memories of the weddings are perfect memories.

I am so glad you two found the perfect dress. And planning a wedding does sound like fun.
I rented a dress when I got married. It was an ok wedding dress. I, personally, didn't have the need or the want to buy a dress. I just saw it as another expense. I was on a very limited budget. I wonder if I had I had more money, would I have then wanted to find the perfect dress and buy it?????
I didn't have the big hoopla wedding. We got married in one of those chapels in the mountains. Only 32 friends and family there.
I felt that that was a blessing to have been surrounded by all those people. They all had to travel 4 hours from home to come along.

I do hope that come summer wedding time you will post a pic.
Congrats! This must be such an exciting time.

Have you noticed it's a mother-daughter thing? My wife and daughter(s were doing the same thing in the fall. I had been advised by a trusted mentor who had been through it..."Enjoy it from a distance and go with the flow."
But a month ago I was with my wife and we had to stop by the Bridal Shop for a fitting of "the mother's" dress. (I was not involved with the bridal dress.)
Sitting there outside the dressing rooms for about 30 minutes (the only male among the many patrons), I knew my friend was right. A dozen stange mom's and daughters were talking freely of thier plans as I sat there like a potted plant.
Then when my wife and daughter stepped out, I looked like a bobbing-head statue in the back window of a car. "Looks great," etc. anything to get out of there. (Actually, she really did look great.)
It's definitely a mother-daughter thing. =)
But I do understand why it's very special and rewarding to get the main dress matter settled.
